Jake came by and we drew the map on the wall. Ok not exactly the wall but I bought these HUGE post-it notes and stuck them on the wall. With my handy dandy collection of colored Sharpies, we drew the freaking map as much as we can. Still missing a few radials and distances but we know about 90%.
About 9, we had to call it quits. I mean, there's just so much information you can absorb in one sitting. I just want to get it down by next week before my baby comes to visit. It would suck for him to watch me study while he sits there on his butt. Plus, our pre-test is next Wed. The instructor said no one gets below 99 usually. HA. We'll see about that....
We started on Data Stripmarking. It was confusing at first but they made each one of us go up to the board and do a problem. It got to be pretty easy after that. Then they threw a NEW data strip procedure at us. Does the fun ever end????
Thank goodness we have a long weekend. I won't be coming home at all (as far as I know) so I want to wish everyone a happy happy happy christmas and New Year! I'm not very good at sending cards to begin with so the fact that I wish everyone a Merry christmas should be good enough.
I organized a small Christmas Eve dinner for the stay-behinds (there's 8 of us) - I plan to just lay around most of the weekend and glance at the map. I need a break. Nothing will be open. These Okies take Christmas very seriously. Everything is closing at 7 on Saturday and I'm sure it'll be a ghost town on Sunday.
My days in Okc are dull and bleak. But I know I am here for a purpose and study I must! I can't let that nerdy computer guy beat me every single time. He's kind of obnoxious because he knows he's smart (he got a 100 on every single block test last month) and he doesn't GLOAT but he's kind of cocky. That's the perfect attitude for a controller actually. I still haven't gained that kind of self-confidence yet. I also don't want to be dragged out to the parking lot and get beaten (since that's what I want to do to that nerd.
)
Been snoozing a lot since we got to EnRoute training. No homework except studying the map and we get a lot of self-study time. And you know what? We actually study. I think I'm in a very dedicated group of "off-the-streets". We have to try extra hard because we all do not have any aviation background. There are 2 pilots in the class but they didn't get the intense one month bootcamp like the 14 of us did. I think I will enjoy working with my future coworkers.
Getting ready for bed. Its the only time my brain can relax. Altho I'm afraid of oversleeping. I have 4 alarms placed strategically around the apartment each with a different time so I get up even if I snooze my clock radio. Can't afford to go to class late. 7:05 is late....
